The Rail Industry

Caritas is Link-Up approved to carry out PTS (personal track safety) medicals for all workers involved in the UK rail industry and to carry out drug and alcohol testing for those workers. We can perform your medicals and drug screens either at our screening centres in Brigg and Doncaster or at your own location. If you have a number of people who need medicals and/or drug screens at the same time, we can visit you at your site. Please contact us to discuss which option is best for you.

Our rail industry clients choose us because we make things simple: whether it is one individual employee or a whole group, we can provide a fast, cost-effective way to ensure that your workers are fit to work in what is a potentially dangerous environment.
Personal Track Safety (PTS) Medicals
The PTS medical assesses the fitness of the individual to work track side on railway infrastructure. As well as surveying medical history, current medication (if any), etc., the medical also tests vision, colour blindness, hearing and general health.

What should I bring to the medical?
Candidates must bring a means of identification and their National Insurance number. Acceptable ID documents are: company photo ID card, passport, driving licence or other photographic ID. Identity documents are essential to perform the medical and drug test.
